Manfred Bleffert has dedicated his life to developing new music. His work includes a unique approach to graphic notation, improvisation, composition and instrument building. His research in music is both broad and profound. Although his compositions come out of the stream of 20th century new music, his studies have encompassed music from all cultures and times.
Manfred is primarily self-taught. He had formal piano instruction as a child. In his teens and twenties, he associated with many contemporary European composers, learning from them and working together with them. Then he entered a time when he worked mostly in solitude. For several years, Manfred worked on his own developing original instruments and his understanding of music. Out of this time of solitude, his own approach to music really started to take form.
Since that time he has worked continuously teaching, performing and selling his instruments.
